Founded in 1968 in San Franciso, the overall mission of ABPsi is to aid in the psychological empowerment and liberation of people of African ancestry throughout the world. Based in the United States, the Association is international in scope and currently has members in Africa, Europe, Canada and the Caribbean. The ABPsi is organized to operate exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including but not limited to, developing programs whereby psychologists of African ancestry can assist in solving problems endemic to Black communities and other ethnic groups.

%newline%The theme for the 41st Annual Convention is “Building On Yesterday, Building For Tomorrow: The Mission of Black/African Psychologists' Working Together”. There will be a wide range of presentations and workshops by professionals as well as precedent setting dialogue and planning for the future health and “human good” of the African American community. Other events include a Community Forum to be held at Morehouse College featuring university and religious leaders facilitated by members of the ABPsi, Opening Reception and the installation of the President Elect.
