Volunteers are need for Kids in Need, a project of the Atlanta Community Food Bank, that provides free school supplies to teachers in low-income schools. Assist teachers as they choose school supplies in the afternoons or help with a wide array of sorting and restocking projects in the mornings. This is ideal for individuals or small groups. Ages 16 and up. Afternoon shopping assistants are asked to commit to a 4 hour shift either once a week or once every two weeks for one or more semesters. There are two semesters each year, August - December and January - May. (Volunteers can start at any point during the school year.) Shopping Assistant Shifts run Mondays thru Thursdays, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Shifts for morning volunteer groups of 1-15 people run Mondays thru Fridays, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.(more)
