Buckhead ThriftIQUEOur thrift store provides affordable clothing to clients who are unable to purchase clothes at full price. We give vouchers for free clothing to needy clients. BCM is in need of donations, especially children's clothes (infant through juniors), coats and household decor. Donations are welcome and may be dropped off during normal business hours. All contributions are tax-deductible. Clothing: men's and women's business attire, large & tall size clothing for men and women, children's clothes, shoes, coats, purses and accessories. Household Items: Small appliances, dishes, flatware, cookware, glassware, kitchen utensils, lamps, clocks, mirrors, table linens, decorative bedding, luggage and tote bags. Furniture and large appliances cannot be donated at this store. If you have these type items, we recommend The Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta. BCM Programs and ServicesEmergency Financial Assistance: rent, mortgage, and utility assistance to those facing eviction or utility cut-off. Food Assistance: groceries, household supplies, and toiletries to needy families, and snack bags to the homeless. Employment: employment support to those whose need for financial assistance is precipitated by job loss or underemployment. BCM provides support services throughout the job search process, transportation assistance and providing them with work clothes and tools as required to begin work. Seasonal: school supplies each fall, turkeys each Thanksgiving, toys at Christmas, and Easter baskets each spring to relieve our clients of some financial stress. Our Joyous Toys program at Christmas last year helped more than 900 children by allowing their mothers to shop in our toy store with vouchers. Transitional Housing: This program helps employed homeless families build better stability through income-based housing, intensive case management, and money management classes. The 70/30 Project: This program prevents families from becoming homeless by paying their rent and utilites for 4 months while they pay of debt, create savings and attend money management classes to insure long-term financial stability.

Emergency Assistance InternshipJOB DESCRIPTION BCM is looking for a high school student, preferably a senior/rising college freshman, to work part-time during the summer months. A regular schedule can be negotiated. The intern will work closely with the Program Director for Emergency Assistance and the Social Worker to assist with program implementation. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. WORK WITH ATLANTAâ??S LOW-INCOME RESIDENTS AND THE HOMELESS, INCLUDING: a. Meeting with clients to assess how BCM can best meet their needs, problem solving to find resources to empower themselves and their families, helping distribute groceries to the hungry, and securing financial assistance for those facing eviction and utility disconnection. b. Answering the Helpline to determine callersâ?? eligibility and to schedule appointments. c. Receive training on the new social service agency community database, Pathways d. Greeting clients when they arrive at the office, locating and filing client documents to ensure that appointments are seen efficiently. e. Updating resource material as needed to inform clients and volunteers of the latest services available. f. Assist with food deliveries from Food Bank, churches and volunteers. 2. ASSIST WITH OUTCOME EVALUATION TO HELP IMPROVE THE SERVICES BCM PROVIDES: a. Working with our employment partner to gather information to provide support to our clients seeking employment. b. Following up with clients to assess how well our services aided them. 3. PROVIDE OTHER ASSISTANCE AS NEEDED TO ENSURE THE PROGRAM RUNS SMOOTHLY.
