Children's Ranked Among Top 100 Employer by FORTUNE MagazineATLANTA (January 22, 2009)-- Children's Healthcare of Atlanta has been ranked among FORTUNE magazine's elite list of \"100 Best Companies to Work For\" in America. It is the fourth consecutive time the not-for-profit pediatric health care system has been named to the list. Children's is the largest of three Georgia-based companies ranked and the only Georgia-based health care organization. Children's is one of only two pediatric health care systems in the nation to be ranked. \"We are honored to be included for the fourth year in a row among a listing of such prestigious companies,\" said Donna Hyland, president and chief executive officer of Children's. \"It is a testament to the commitment every employee at Children's has to provide excellent clinical care for Georgia's children in addition to focusing on research, teaching and wellness initiatives in order to enhance the lives of our patients. Their dedication epitomizes the culture that makes Children's a great place to work.\" Children's operates three hospital campuses, including Children's at Egleston, Children's at Hughes Spalding and Children's at Scottish Rite, as well as 16 neighborhood locations. For an organization that serves families from all different backgrounds, it makes sense that Children's ranks No. 17 on the list of companies with the most diverse workforce (44 percent), and No. 4 for the highest percentage of female employees (82 percent). Children's constantly works to understand and deliver on its workforce's diverse needs, enabling employees to be successful and continue to serve the not-for-profit organization. In addition to traditional benefits, Children's offers many unique programs, including a wellness program called Strong4Life where employees have collectively lost more than 8,000 pounds and logged more than 201 million steps since the program's launch last summer. \"We work hard to be attentive to the needs of all of our employees and support the variety of personal and professional goals they have in life,\" said Linda Matzigkeit, senior vice president, human resources at Children's. \"We know our employees are the most important driver of our organization's success, and ultimately, we are helping our patients and their families by taking care of the caregivers.\"
