Gun Buy Back Project in Mpls and St. PaulGun Buy Back – Project II in Minneapolis & St. Paul “Bury Our Guns, Not Our People!” Minneapolis, MN, St. Paul, MN, November 20, 2009 – Citizens For A Safer MN, African American Men Project, Twin-Cities Anti Violence Coalition, The Alternatives To Violence Project, and Parents of Murdered Children will hold a gun buy back initiative inspired by the desire to end gun violence in Minnesota. The buy back will take place from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm at Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ located at 247 Grotto St N St. Paul, MN 55104 and also at Shiloh Temple International Ministries located at 1201 W Broadway Ave in Minneapolis, MN 55411. Anyone turning in a firearm will receive gift cards in the amount of $100.00 for automatic guns and $50.00 for revolvers while supplies last. No questions asked. They are asking for you to participate in a survey and sit in on a short educational video on violence. Comments may be heard from supporters and dignitaries such as Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman, Councilman Don Samuels, and U.S. Congressman Keith Ellison, State Representatives Jeff Hayden And Bobbi Joe Champion as well as a host of other organizations. A press conference will follow at 10:15 pm. Ms. Brandy King, the mother of 17 year old Bryant Garroutte who was accidently shot two years ago in northeast Minneapolis said, “I want no one to experience this level of pain and loss.” during her attendance at the meeting held at NorthPoint Health and Wellness Center in north Minneapolis. Ms. King is a member of Parents of Murdered Children and sits on the committee to assist with the Gun Buy Back Project II. She hopes to save another family from the nightmare of losing a loved one by the use of a street gun. Your assistance is needed.
