CounselingDepression, grief and troubled relationships are powerful issues that many families face. These difficult issues affect everyone in the family - adults and children alike - and harm their ability to do a good job at work, school and in the community. In many cases, the best way to find solutions is with professional counseling. We are available whether you want to address a specific problem requiring just a few sessions or are seeking longer term therapy to work through long standing issues. At Family Service, we can help you find a path toward resolution and relief with affordable professional counseling services for adults, couples, children, and families, as well as services for businesses through our Employee Assistance Program. We offer services tailored to your needs including: Stress (job-related or otherwise) Communication problems Relationship/marital troubles Difficulty making decisions Children and teen behavioral problems Financial troubles Grief and loss Returning from military service overseas Past abuse and many other issues
Chemical DependencyChemical dependency affects the entire family. With caring hearts, our team of professionals works to help participants understand the destructive impact on their spouse, partners, children, and co-workers. Participants will learn how to overcome addiction and live substance free. At Family Service we provide a full continuum of substance abuse treatment and support services from prevention for individuals experiencing the first signs of a substance problem, through intensive outpatient programs for those experiencing substance abuse or dependence problems.
Alternatives to Family Violence At Family Service, we work with the entire family to stop domestic violence. Families can come to counseling together, but meet separately with counselors to learn: Development of a violence avoidance/safety plan Education about the cycle of violence plus power and control dynamics Use time-outs to manage anger Assertiveness training Skills in self-esteem, self-responsibility, stress management and social communication Learn about addictive relationships, co-dependency and drug and alcohol abuse.
Breaking FreeBreaking Free domestic violence advocates and counselors work in locations throughout the community to support, educate and advocate for victims of domestic abuse. Our program works to empower individuals to break free from abusive relationships, to provide resources and education for safety, healing and growth, and to promote community awareness and to end the cycle of violence. Our Groups for Children Children ages 3-17 who have witnessed or experienced domestic abuse participate in an eight-week group program that teaches them how to recover from abuse. Family PreservationStrong families can foster healthy and successful children. Yet It’s not always easy to make a happy home when families are faced with complex issues. When children have been removed from the home or are in danger of being removed, parents receive counseling and education to restore family stability. Our counselors can help families: Cope with their family’s difficult situation Learn anger management skills Set family goals Improve communication skills Develop better interactions with their children Explore safe housing options Learn about and access community resources We also offer counseling, support and education services for when a relative has taken over care of children.
