GCI is a 501-c-3 nonprofit that trains service dogs for children and adults with physical disabilities and other special needs. Each assistance dog receives two years of training, learns over 80 commands, and increases independence through assisting with daily activities such as opening doors, turning on lights, retrieving dropped or needed items, assisting with balance, and pulling wheelchairs. Each service dog is given away at absolutely no cost!

%newline%While in training, each dog performs animal therapy throughout Georgia by visiting schools, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers. These special canines perform disability awareness presentations to educate about the rights of people with disability and about spinal cord injury prevention.
