%newline%Historical Jonesboro/Clayton County, Inc. was chartered on July 19, 1968, although its roots go back to the Jonesboro Women���¢��������s Club.

%newline%Through the generosity of local citizens, several buildings of historical significance have been assembled on the grounds of its headquarters at the Margaret Mitchell Memorial Park located on Jodeco Road, in Jonesboro. The 1839 Greek Revival house, Stately Oaks and its original log kitchen, the one-room Bethel Schoolhouse, and Juddy���¢��������s County Store, the tenant house, and well house. The beautiful site boasts a recreation of an early Creek Indian Village. Tourists from throughout the United States and many foreign countries visit each year. Groups can enjoy lunch or dinner tours in the schoolhouse. Educational programs include Civil War homefront and Native American village life tours for school and other youth groups.
