%newline%In July 2008, the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), Area Agency on Aging (AAA) was awarded grant funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service to serve as sponsor for the RSVP program in the metro Atlanta area. RSVP is the countryâ??s largest volunteer network for people age 55 and older, engaging more than 400,000 older adults in volunteer service annually.

%newline%Metro Atlanta RSVP is looking to capture the talents of experienced adults and baby boomers who are looking for meaningful, challenging ways to give back to their community. Volunteer opportunities focus on civic engagement, community education and outreach to help older adults and people with disabilities maintain independent, healthy lifestyles.

%newline%This program serves Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett counties. Key partners supporting metro Atlanta RSVP include, Cobb Senior Services, Clayton Senior Services DeKalb Office of Senior Affairs, Life Enrichment Services and Gwinnett Senior Services.

%newline%Additionally, metro Atlanta RSVP is an important component of ARCâ??s Lifelong Communities initiative which is working with local communities to create a regional response to the growing older adult population from the ground up.

%newline%To become an RSVP volunteer, an individual must be 55 or older and have an interest in helping people maintain independent, healthy lives. Volunteers do not need to be subject matter experts in any of the subject areas, training will be provided. Supplemental insurance and minimal travel reimbursement is also provided to volunteers.
