First StepsMonday, August 03, 2009 - Friday, December 18, 2009Help parents to welcome and enjoy their newborn baby! Become a volunteer in the First Steps Program and help assure that every parent has the information and support they need to successfully care for their newborn. First Steps is a program of Prevent Child Abuse Georgia and First Steps volunteers have reached tens of thousands of parents of newborns in Georgia for more than 25 years! The birth of a baby brings great joy as well as challenges for all parents. During pregnancy, at the time of birth and when a baby comes home, there are many questions and some ups and downs. It’s normal for parents of newborns to feel both excited and overwhelmed. The First Steps program helps parents and families transition into life with their new baby and get off to a good start. First Steps volunteers provide valuable support and information as well as linkages to community resources – all through telephone contact! Volunteers receive training and are prepared to share information on a variety of topics that are important to all parents of newborns such as infant feeding and safe sleep, coping with infant crying and managing the “baby blues”. Babies don’t come with instructions but they can come with a First Steps volunteer! Please join us to learn more. Call 404-870-6589.
