The Rialto Center for the Arts at Georgia State University inspires, educates, and entertains diverse audiences by presenting innovative and exceptional arts programming and cultivating community partnerships. Opening in 1916 as a silent movie house, Georgia State University reopened the renovated Rialto in 1996 and marked a turning point in the cultural life of the city. The Rialto offers a series focusing on the best in world music, jazz, contemporary dance, and international programs. Educational Outreach activities include the Rialto Jazz for Kids, a comprehensive jazz education program for students. The Rialto also identifies underserved communities to ensure access to quality arts programs for all. Through partnerships with schools and community organizations, the Rialto offers free tickets to Series events and free outreach programs. Serving over 600,000 patrons since 1996, the Rialto continues to bring once-in-a-lifetime cultural experiences to the Southeast.(more)
