The Soldiers' Angels of GA 2009 Christmas For The Troops Project is under way, as we begin making plans to prepare stocking gift bags full of goodies to send to our deployed soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. For the fifth year, we would like to invite the Georgia business community to join us in contributing the funds and items needed to bring the joys of the holiday season to our brave military troops overseas. With your help, this year's effort will bring Christmas gifts to 5,000 Georgia-based troops deployed in war zones.

%newline%Our 'stockings' will be gift bags full of both useful and comforting items for a soldier in the desert environment of the war zone.
%newline%Each will include:
%newline%- A new pair of socks
%newline%- Holiday candy
%newline%- Hot chocolate
%newline%- Lip balm
%newline%- A pen
%newline%- A twin-blade razor
%newline%- A pocket comb
%newline%- A new toothbrush
%newline%- Pocket-pack of tissues
%newline%- A small 'fun' item
%newline%- An individually-wrapped snack food
%newline%- Signed holiday cards from the public
%newline%(Other items may be added, pending volume of donations during the year.)

%newline%Financial donations may be made payable to Soldiers' Angels with '2009 GA Christmas Project' in the memo. Donation receipts for tax purposes are available upon request.

%newline%Businesses are also invited to sponsor full categories of items for the troops by either purchasing a bulk portion of one of the stocking items listed as a donation in kind or making a monetary donation for Soldiers' Angels to make the wholesale purchase of that item. Donations are tax deductible and such sponsorships will be credited to your business via a card in each stocking. Please contact Dianne Moore (listed below) for information detailing which items are in need of sponsorship.

%newline%Holiday greeting cards are a very important part of this gift, as it is the public's direct means of expressing their gratitude and holiday wishes directly to the soldiers. Cards from children are particularly dear to them, so schools are encouraged to take part. Churches and other groups, as well as private citizens are also welcome to contribute as many greetings as they'd like. Please keep all messages supportive and non-political.
