Our Community of Faith addresses the community issues of hunger, children-at-risk and unemployment. In 1988 this issue had become overwhelmingly evident to the pastors of churches in the Southwest area of Atlanta; and in response, the Southwest Ecumenical Emergency Assistance Center (SWEEAC) was established in order to have one location to which each church could refer all its calls for help. For twenty plus years SWEEAC has endeavored to alleviate the problems of people by providing a food pantry and household items, clothing closets, health and beauty products, school supplies, assistance with life skills enhancement and referrals to other agencies. Our aim is to encourage and assist the people to find ways to strengthen themselves physically, mentally and spiritually with a goal of becoming self-sufficient, productive and contributing members of society.
