Community Welcome House, \"Welcome House\", is a crisis line, safe-haven and out reach program for individuals who have been traumatized by domestic violence. Domestic violence does not discriminate. Domestic violence is not just the physical abuse you see. It's destruction goes much deeper. It manifests itself in the guise of love. Emotional and psychological damage makes the healing from abuse more difficult. The trauma enflicted effects not only the victim but the children. The victim is often isolated from family and friends. She becomes so emotionally attached to the abuser, she can't leave. When she does, the violence escalates. Founded in 1990 on Christian principles, we remain free to all those who are victims of the violence. We are not affilitated by a government agency. Volunteers are an important part of our program. We are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We never turn a victim away. The children, having been taught to keep the secret, are often shy or agressive. Through our program we help them understand love does not hurt. We begin to redefine normal for the victims that include the children.(more)
