Paws 911Paws 911 is the shelter rescue branch of our organization. Here's how it works. Coweta County Animal Control publishes their \"kill list\" twice a week. Their kill days are Wednesday and Friday. We get a copy of this list, check out their photos published on www.shelterrescue.org and begin the rescue process. First, we get our computer volunteers to post and cross post pleas for homes/receiving agencies, financial sponsorship for vet care, transportion and fostering/boarding. When we have secured donations for all the above, we adopt the animal from animal control and take him/her to a vet for a complete check up and vaccinations/de-fleaing/de-worming. Arrangements are made for spay-neutering and/or heartworm treatments if needed. Animals then go into quarantine for 7 days at a boarding facility or foster home. After quarantine is up, the spay-neutering is completed and the animal is heartworm free, we make arrangements with transporters and agencies in the northeast to have the animals transported to sister agencies, where they will remain until they are adopted. We only work with agencies that have the same stringent screening and adopter requirements that we have. Animals are picked up from boarding or the foster parents bring them to the meet point for that transport to the northeast, the animal with paperwork is put on the truck, and off it goes. We then turn our attention to the next kill list and the animals on death row that need us. Help is needed transporting animals from the animal shelter to veterinarians, from veterinarians to boarding, from boarding to veterinarians, from boarding to the meet point. If you can make even ONE trip, just ONE trip, even ONCE a month, you can be tremendous help. We provide the crate, directions, and a frightened, but immeasurable thankful animal. You provide the time, vehicle, and compassion. Interested? Please call Kaye at 678 575 3062 or Jeanne at 770 436 - 5513. Or you can email Jeanne at westjeanne@bellsouth.net
The Cat's MeowThe Cat's Meow is an 7 day instore adoption program at Petco, Peachtree City, Georgia. Here's how it works. We are adoption partners with Petco in Peachtree City, Georgia. They have provided us with two huge cat housing units where we show our cats needing forever homes. They also provide us with all supplies needed for our kitties care and comfort. We bring healthy cats and kittens to Petco, place them into the spacious, fully stocked units, where they will remain until they are adopted. While these units are not forever homes, they are the best that money can buy in terms of creature comfort. This \"stepping stone\" allows them to be seen by potential adopters 7 days a week. This arrangement has resulted in forever homes for over 300 cats. But we need your help. Keeping the units clean is a daily responsibility. We need volunteers at least once a month, or twice a month, or once a week. Tasks include providing fresh water and making sure they have sufficient food. Cleaning the litterbox and making sure their beddding is clean is also required. And last, but of course not least, they need human interaction. If you are a cat lover, live near Peachtree City, Georgia, and want to make a difference for the less fortunate cats in our community, please contact Cathy at 770 652 - 3683 or Jeanne at 770 463 - 5513, or you can email Jeanne at westjeanne@bellsouth.net
