Learning to GiveThe LEAGUE's Learning to Give curriculum includes more than 3,000 service learning and philanthropy lesson plans for grades K-12. All lesson plans are easy to download from The LEAGUE's website at no cost to you. They are turnkey, fun and aligned with state standards. This makes it simple for teachers to integrate lessons into virtually any subject matter or grade level, while addressing their state's \"service learning\" and/or \"character education\" requirements. The LEAGUE works hard to secure funding that makes it possible to offer the lesson plans and other resources at no cost, via its website. In states, like Georgia, where a local staff position is funded, targeted training and local technical assistance are also provided to schools year-round. In Atlanta, seed funding from New York Life is enabling The LEAGUE Georgia to offer these targeted services during the 2008/2009 7 2009/2010 school years. King Day Project to Give BackThursday, January 07, 2010 - Thursday, January 21, 2010 Event Focus Do an act of kindness and watch it gain momentum and multiply. We're inspiring compassion by honoring a national hero and encouraging students to perform acts of caring, respect, and fairness. Help a neighbor with their groceries. Advocate for fairness and the rights of others. Little favors, big favors-they all count. We keep track of these acts so students learn the value of goodwill and are inspired to turn \"acts\" into \"habits\".
Earth Day-Project to Give BackThursday, April 08, 2010 - Thursday, April 29, 2010 Event Focus Even though Earth Day is a global celebration, it all starts in your hometown. From planting trees to painting schools, kids around the nation are stepping up to improve and beautify their neighborhoods. They also inspire parents, friends and local organizations to take part, making Earth Day the largest event of the season.
THE DRIVE-Project to Give Back Thursday, November 05, 2009 - Thursday, November 26, 2009Each community has its own specific challenges related to poverty. For The Drive students create and implement a plan to address issues related to poverty, hunger and homelessness in their community by conducting a collection drive to provide needed goods to a chosen recipient organization in their community. Student interest and community need will determine the items that will be collected. A food drive is suggested, but toys, clothes, or other items may be determined to be more appropriate and selected by the class or school.
